Emerging Talent Rotational (ETR) Program Description
The goal of the Emerging Talent Rotational (ETR) Program in the Information Technology division is to create a diverse, talented network of IT professionals and business leaders/influencers. The program will offer these individuals a path of differentiated exposure and investment in order to develop their technical, business, and leadership capabilities. Participants will engage in meaningful projects to help positively affect the company economics and impact the value realization of IT through business solutions.
We are looking for graduates with outstanding academic records of achievement and demonstrated leadership abilities who are adaptable, quick learners, motivated self-starters, perceptive, analytical and inquisitive about the interrelationships of various components, and committed to helping to further Merck's vision and mission to invent for life.
Ideal candidates will have the ability to manage multiple priorities, learn and adapt to various business areas, and be geographically mobile to help drive our IT hub strategy with rotations throughout our US locations (including but not limited to NJ, Austin TX, PA, Boston, MA) and possible international travel.
The program allows new hires to experience three rotations over a two and a half year period (one half-year rotation and two full-year rotations) in various business areas and work locations to develop an understanding of Merck’s/MSD’s business and IT processes, the pharmaceutical industry and global regulations. Potential assignment locations include NJ, TX, PA, and MA. Each individual will be partnered with a buddy and a coach who will help with acculturation at Merck and career planning. Rotations are assigned based on the individual’s development interest, discussions with the coach, and alignment with business needs.

Education Minimum Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Business, or Computer Science (or similar)
Required Experience and Skills:
- Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US or otherwise authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
- Willingness to potentially rotate through different geographical areas (including but not limited to NJ, TX, PA, MA)
- Willingness to travel for project assignments as needed
- Passion for technology and healthcare
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Team-oriented self-starter
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Effectively works under pressure
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- At least 1 internship or co-op in a related field
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
