Senior Scientist Position for Companion Animal R&D Group

Job Description:

  • Responsible for designing, planning, and executing experiments and animal studies for the development of new or improved veterinary or biological products.

  • Independently perform complex laboratory and animal work including laboratory-scale bioreactors and fermenters.

  • Serve as study director or principal investigator to develop and manage project plans and timelines; be accountable for the timely preparation of progress reports and presentations according to agreed plans and milestones.

  • Efficiently manage and leverage the resources within the team and department to ensure on-time delivery of project timelines and milestones. Closely collaborate with other cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders.

  • Function as the subject matter expert in the responsible area and provide support, coaching, training, or assistance to other team members.

  • Independently write laboratory procedures, study protocols, and study reports.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, virology, immunology, or related area of study with at least 5 years experience in the animal health industry.....OR, a PhD in biology, microbiology, virology, immunology, or related area of study.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in cell culture/aseptic technique, virus and/or bacterial propagation, and extensive knowledge of laboratory techniques such as ELISA, virus titration, bacterial enumeration, serum neutralization assays, and PCR.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment and study/experiment results.

  • Demonstrated experience with laboratory-scale bioreactors and/or fermenters.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and very strong time management and organization skills.

  • Experience with working with animals in a laboratory setting, especially cats and dogs.

  • Computer skills such as Microsoft Office and Outlook.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
