Reporting directly to the Vice President, Human Resources for Merck Animal Health (MAH) and the Global Labor & Employee Relations Center of Expertise (COE), the incumbent will be the primary HR administrative resource for VP and 4 HR leaders. The incumbent will provide comprehensive HR support; facilitating all aspects of HR transactions, while managing client expectations, handling inquiries, and resolving issues on routine and complex matters. The successor will build partnerships and collaborate across HR functions and Centers of Expertise to support projects as needed, including but not limited to; Talent and Succession, Employee Engagement, Workforce Analytics, Global Mobility, Restructuring, and Hire-to-Retire.

The incumbent will produce and complete work assignments requiring analytical ability, independent judgement, and problem-solving skills. The primary activities include and are not limited to the following:

  • General administrative and clerical duties constitute approximately 50% of job responsibilities. Coordinate and perform multiple tasks while understanding the project principles and technical skills related to own work assignments.

  • Coordinate all budget management activities for both departments under the VP role.

  • Leverage HR analytical tools (i.e. Visier) in collaboration with HRBPs and Workforce Analytics partner to support business needs, HR processes, and analysis.

  • Provide logistical support for meetings with all required parties (internal and external).

  • Collaborate with MAH resources to support division and site specific projects, such as: coordinating all aspects of the MAH Intern and Co-op program and coordinating site employee engagement projects.

  • Effectively interact with Merck executives and internal/external clients to maintain workflow.

Education Minimum Requirement:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of (8) years of Administrative Assistant experience

  • Minimum of (3) years Executive Administrative experience supporting senior executives (Sr. Director, Executive Director, VP or above)

  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, etc.) and operation of other peripheral devices

  • Experience managing financial data and budgets and advanced knowledge of the B&E system in SAP, as well as the capability to run reports within SAP

  • Experience scheduling complex travel arrangements including multiple leg trips and international trips requiring Visas

  • Advanced secretarial/clerical abilities with a history of high performance, with documented experience as a strong performer in current and past positions

  • Ability to handle and prioritize a large number of simultaneous assignments • Experience with event planning and coordination

  • Extraordinary attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee data

  • Outstanding communication and people skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Advanced education or certifications desirable (e.g. Certified Administrative Professional, Project Management Professional Certification, Professional in Human Resources Certification)

  • Minimum of one year experience in an HR function
