Merck Director, Identity Governance and Administration in Olympia, Washington

Job Description

The position will lead our Company's Identity Governance and Administration squad. The role requires a technically strong individual who is resourceful and highly self-motivated. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of experience working in the IAM field in a large, global enterprise environment and possess broad experience working with numerous technologies typically used in identity governance. Additionally, the candidate will have strong communication skills that allows them to successfully work with stakeholders in diverse roles ranging from IT infrastructure to individual end-users.

Reporting to the Product Owner of Enterprise Identity and Access Management, this position will be responsible for the daily delivery efforts of a team of employee and contingent worker SMEs focused on the development, introduction and enhancement of identity governance solutions. Responsibilities include (but are not limited) to:

  • Develop, implement and optimize solutions for identity management processes, including user onboarding/offboarding, access certification, and access fulfillment ensuring efficient and secure management of user identities and access rights

  • Manage relationship with key technology vendors to influence their development roadmaps to meet our Company needs

  • Aid in the development and drive the implementation of IAM product roadmaps

  • Lead efforts to evaluate and implement new technologies and integrations with other solutions that derive additional value from current investments

  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends integrating relevant advancements into the organization’s strategy.

  • Partner with infrastructure, security and applications teams on service issues, escalations and support transitions and enforce identity policies and standards.

  • Foster compliance by providing guidance on the design and implementation of identity solutions to meet organizational security requirements.

  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative work environment drive by Agile principles and practices.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Required

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of applicable experience in Identity Governance and Administration.

  • Proven experience in leading Identity Governance and Administration teams.

  • In-depth knowledge of identity governance technologies such as SailPoint IdentityNow, IdentityIQ, and Oracle Identity Governance

  • Minimum of 5 years of architecting and leading SailPoint IdentityNow implementations (hands on) including - Application onboarding - Customizing workflows, rules, and reports

  • Design, develop, test, implement, and document workflows, custom connectors, and other custom software to meet requirements

  • Experience with Installing, customizing, configuring, and supporting identity provisioning and governance tools

  • Consult on projects, and perform security assessments. Review solutions to ensure new and existing applications are implemented to RBAC Framework and Security policies

  • Managing IT solution deployments through the full software development lifecycle

  • Familiarity with secure and scalable software development leveraging Java / JavaScript

  • Familiarity with ADFS, Kerberos, NTLM, OAuth, SAML, and other authentication methods

  • Good working knowledge of the Agile framework and using JIRA to drive roadmap execution

  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards related to identity management

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder and able to discuss technical ideas in business-friendly language

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience with the our Company enterprise environment and business applications or similar large healthcare environment

  • Demonstrated understanding of identity-related NIST standards (e.g. 800-63-3)

  • Working knowledge and understanding of ServiceNow for Change, Incident and Knowledge Management

  • CISSP, Security+ or similar industry certification

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Expected salary range:

$149,400.00 - $235,100.00
