The Research and Development Sciences (RaDS) value team in R&D IT brings together product management, engineering, and data science expertise to enable data and technology products and services that accelerate our scientists' ability to discover and develop innovative medicines that change the course of human health. Our IT team operates as a business partner proposing ideas and innovative solutions that enable new organizational capabilities. We collaborate internationally to deliver the services and solutions that help everyone to be more productive and enable innovation and advance the drug discovery and development pipeline.

As a Product Technical Lead within the Experiment Design and Execution Product Line you will enable capabilities that help scientists operate and execute experiments utilizing their day-to-day operational and transactional solutions that facilitate the research process. You will partner with the Product Manager to enable solutions that help our Company scientists to enable quality scientific data by enabling accurate and accessible details for sample inventory across their organizations, contributing to how they operate and execute research processes.

This will be accomplished through cross-functional teams that bring together science, technologies, capabilities, and talent to create products that deliver high impact business value, insight, and a fantastic user experience to scientists. Through your role, you will help define the standard of excellence in technical product management within our organization.

Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities to grow and improve the product technical landscape while simultaneously ensuring consistent performance of existing applications and lowering technical debt. You will use your knowledge of these products to promote their meaningful use by giving product demos, sharing user stories, and showing the connection of our data and technology products to our mission to serve patients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Product Manager in the understanding, prioritization and development of strategically aligned solutions which deliver maximum business value.

  • Deliver forward looking technology solutions by proactively tracking technology trends, vendor marketplace and upcoming business needs.

  • Manage the product technology roadmap and communicate related IT strategy and governance.

  • Act as the single point of contact for all technical matters within the assigned product

  • Own product technology solutions from concept to retirement, while striving to increase ROI and reduce financial investment.

  • Manage a team of technical resources assigned to multiple squads within the product.

  • Develop and communicate accurate and realistic project plans, resource estimates and timelines in alignment with prioritized business requirements.

  • Ensure all systems are designed, built, and operated in an SDLC compliant manner and promote the effective use of IT standards and tools.

  • Demonstrate an eagerness to learn drug discovery & development processes and regulatory requirements as necessary to solve problems.

  • Oversee the configuration, customization, and deployment of SaaS solutions, including data migration and user acceptance testing.

  • Coordinate with vendors, external consultants, and internal teams to address technical issues and ensure timely resolution.

  • Collaborate with development teams to refactor and rearchitect legacy applications, leveraging modern technologies and methodologies to lower technical debt.

  • Ensure seamless migration of data and functionalities from legacy systems to modernized platforms.

  • Occasional US and International travel may be required per product demands

Education Minimum Requirement: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline (such as computer science, engineering, biology, chemistry, etc.).

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 8 years of experience in IT with ability to architect, engineer, optimize and maintain software solutions to solve complex scientific problems.

  • Experience working with Engineering and Product Management teams initiating and driving large scale strategic initiatives.

  • Experience leading multiple technical efforts and demonstrated ability to operate and successfully deliver value in an agile fashion.

  • Experience working efficiently in a matrixed environment with geographically dispersed teams including company staff, contractors, and vendors.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to influence strategic thinking.

Desired Technical Skills:

  • Experience operating and delivering in a GxP compliant manner.

  • Experience performing installation and configurations of commercial-off-the-shelf enterprise applications in both Windows and Linux environments.

  • Hands on experience with application development and relational databases

  • Experience with cloud technologies is highly desired.

  • Experience with ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) or other industry standard tools for test script management and approvals

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.

  • Understanding of integration patterns, including RESTful APIs, web services, event-driven architectures, etc.

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • Pharmaceutical experience preferred.

Desired Business Aligned Experience

  • Experience working across Research Discovery, Pre-Clinical and/or Clinical Business areas

  • Understanding of Laboratory Application and Vendor Landscape

  • Experience with Sample and Inventory Management Systems and LIMS Systems

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Expected salary range:

$135,500.00 - $213,400.00
