Job Description:

Our Company is currently seeking exceptional chemists to join our highly collaborative Discovery Chemistry Department located in Rahway, New Jersey. The successful candidates will contribute to multidisciplinary discovery teams by applying innovative chemistry, analytical techniques, and data analysis to the design and synthesis of drug candidates. It is expected that the successful candidates will learn quickly through on-the-job training to become increasingly skilled in the design, synthesis, and optimization of complex peptide drug candidates by leveraging data-driven drug design. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Act as a leader in the laboratory, executing chemistry to deliver on program strategy

• Develop and utilize innovative synthetic, medicinal chemistry and/or chemical biology problem solving skills to build structure-activity relationships

• Design, synthesize, and characterize peptide, and macrocyclic drug candidates, and/or chemical probes to enable target identification and validation, hit-to-lead, and lead optimization programs

• Provide scientific mentoring and technical training of team members

• Establish a substantial external scientific presence including authoring significant scientific publications and presentations

Education Minimum Requirements:

• Ph.D. degree in chemistry, chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, or related scientific discipline

Required Skills and Experience:

• Experience in peptide or macrocycle synthesis is preferred

• Must have excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills and a proven record of solving complex problems in a team environment

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. Under New York State, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$111,400.00 - $175,300.00
