Our company's Health Economics and Data Sciences (HEDS) division is currently recruiting for summer interns to support the Oncology trials. The HEDS team is part of the Biostatistics and Research and Decision Sciences (BARDS) department, which is part of our company's research division, including statistical programmers, statisticians, epidemiologists, health economists and information scientists. BARDS has over 1000 employees world-wide; our largest functional area is statistical programming. HEDS is a global team, with over 50 individuals, and is responsible in the delivery of our company's economic assessments which support submission to from Health Technology Assessments, globally.

It is critical that, for all company-sponsored budget impact and cost-effectiveness models and country adaptations of the models, they are conducted with the highest level of scientific rigor while delivered quickly and on-time. Within the oncology team alone, there are approximately 150 model adaptations conducted annually. Working to make our model development process more efficient while maintaining or improving the scientific rigor is a long standing, ongoing goal of the team. The intern will help with items related to efficiency and standardization (support collection of data and standardization of data sources), while also conducting quality tests and pressure tests on programmed cost-effectiveness and budget impact models.

The intern will engage with all various levels within the HEDS organization to participate in and/or lead workstreams or projects that support quality assurance tests and health economic development. Activities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Support the HEDS team in conducting quality assurance tests for both budget impact and cost-effectiveness models

  • Work on systematic data standardization, review and collection to support economic models

  • Develop tools to enhance quality assurance, quality planning and submission readiness activities

  • Support benchmarking activities for deliverables

  • Develop capstone presentation illustrating internship activities and deliverables

Required Education and Skills:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a full-time BS/BA degree program in a science-related discipline.

  • Candidates must be available to work full-time, on site, for up to (12) weeks beginning in May or June of 2025.

  • Candidates must have completed at least (2) years of collegiate study by June of 2025.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to analyze, interpret and solve problems

  • Ability to proficiently interact with all levels of specialists & management

  • BA, MS, or PhD candidate

  • Ideally familiarity with health economic models (eg cost-effectiveness, budget impact)

  • Basic foundation knowledge of epidemiology, public health terminology

  • The intern will have the opportunity to work with health economists, focusing on oncology models.

  • Depending on intern’s experience, the intern will have the opportunity to conduct quality tests and reviews of oncology health economic models, build test models, lead workstreams to support reviews and standardization of input data for models, review and support the development of detailed model documentation

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$39,600.00-$105,500.00
