Associated Principal Scientist

Scientists in the In Vitro Toxicology group within the Investigative Toxicology function of Nonclinical Drug Safety (NDS) contribute to the advancement of our Company's discovery pipeline through the development and application of novel in vitro models/assays to support nonclinical safety testing and de-risking effort.

This specific position is expected to provide scientific leadership and contribute to strategy and execution of various in vitro toxicology projects, provide mentorship and guidance to junior level scientists and lab staff, and drive innovation and new capability development.

The successful candidate should have in depth knowledge and experience of in vitro model/assay development and application pertaining to nonclinical drug safety testing, demonstrated ability to bring and contribute to innovative solutions, work collaboratively across disciplines, and deliver on projects from conception to completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a scientific lead for various in vitro tox and investigative tox projects, contribute to strategy and design, oversee planning and execution to ensure robust delivery of results from beginning to end

  • Provide scientific mentorship and guidance to junior scientists and technical staff, assist with troubleshooting

  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external partners to drive innovative solutions to nonclinical safety problems and develop new capabilities for investigative toxicology and other nonclinical safety needs

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Doctoral degree in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Bioengineering or a closely related discipline

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimal 5 years working experience in nonclinical drug safety testing, preferable in a pharmaceutical or biotech industry setting

  • Knowledge and experience in the development and application of complex in vitro models and novel in vitro assays for nonclinical safety testing

  • Self-motivated, demonstrated ability to lead and deliver on scientific objectives

  • Possessing strategic mindset, great problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Good team player and ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization

  • Good verbal and written communication

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience of drug discovery and development process and the use of NAMs for nonclinical safety testing

  • Expertise and experience in applying PKPB modeling to complex in vitro models to enable IVIVC

  • Expertise and experience in designing, developing and implementing lab automation, high throughput in vitro assay development, and trouble shooting
