Merck Content Management Engineer in West Point, Pennsylvania

We are seeking energetic, forward thinking professionals to join our Information Technology group. As part of that team, you will be helping us focus on developing and applying advanced capabilities in the regulated content management area. You will have the opportunity to work with global teams to identify the biggest opportunities as well as tackle the biggest challenges at the intersection of healthcare, information and technology.

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrate the ability to listen to customer content management needs and translate requirements into IT solutions

  • Design and Implement Content Management solutions leveraging enterprise content platforms

  • Lead and participate in solution implementations leveraging cross-functional teams while engaging non-Merck and vendor resources as appropriate

  • Provide technology skills in Enterprise Content Management (ECM) capabilities such as Documentum, FirstDoc, and Sharepoint.

  • Follow company’s Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and change management processes throughout implementations

  • Define and Implement enterprise and project specific information management policies, taxonomies, workflow, and life cycle management

  • Help define best practices and guidelines for content management usage at Merck acting as a subject matter expert for interactions with customers and other IT functions

  • Identify capability gaps in Corporate Content Management capabilities and design solutions to address those gaps

  • Contribute to Content Management road maps and future state capabilities

  • Drive solution governance across Content Management infrastructure

  • Assist in designing, planning, building, and operating Merck's Enterprise Imaging Platform

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor Degree with relevant experience in Computer Science, Economics, Business Management or Marketing

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 2-3 years’ SharePoint or Documentum experience particularly within Enterprise Content Management capabilities including an understanding of thresholds and limitations

  • Ability to configure Documentum applications and good understanding of other Documentum Object model and other services such as DFC ( Documentum Foundation Classes), DFS ( Documentum Foundation Services ) , Xplore, ADTS/Adlib and Documentum Query Language (DQL)

  • Basic skills and understanding of ancillary technologies such as Linux OS, Windows OS , Network Load Balancing etc

  • SQL Server and Oracle cursory knowledge

  • Project Management skills, understanding of document lifecycle and security groups

  • Confident self-starter, organized and ability to manage a number of competing priorities

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of EMC Documentum (version 6.7 and higher)

  • Basic knowledge of Websercies and SOAP/REST APIs and exposure to using Development Environments like Eclipse

  • Exposure to other Content Management Technologies such as Veeva and Sharepoint

  • Exposure to SharePoint site collections, experience with workflow, content types, metadata and content organizer rules, and information policies

  • Exposure to testing tools such as HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate technical and non-technical information verbally and in writing

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of professionals globally

  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple competing projects and needs

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate technical and non-technical information verbally and in writing
