This position will provide financial leadership to several of the discovery therapeutic areas within the Discovery, Preclinical and Translational Medicine (DPTM) organization. The DPTM organization is responsible for the discovery of novel drugs, conducting preclinical and early-stage clinical experiments with potential drug candidates and advancing our Company’s scientific capabilities in relation to drug discovery. The incumbent will be responsible for forecasting and analytics, supporting both internal and external stakeholders, overseeing monthly close activities, and tracking of actuals.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to learn and understand the discovery engine of the bio-pharma industry. This role will provide the candidate with an opportunity to learn the dynamics and challenges of our company's discovery engine by supporting this organization from a financial perspective to drive value for patients.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide financial planning, forecasting and analytical support to several of the discovery therapeutic areas within the DPTM organization.

  • Play a central role in developing the quarterly forecasts and monthly/quarterly close activities.

  • Develop and participate in team presentations associated with any financial and/or operational review with client areas being supported.

  • Support project team decision making by providing relevant financial information and insight.

  • Partner with the business to prioritize financial investments in-line with the financial targets and to provide accurate information in support of pipeline portfolio review process

  • Analyze and report actual financial results and discuss adjustments needed to projected spend to align to approved financial plans

  • Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing supplemental support to one or more activities impacting the broader DPTM Finance team.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's in Business, Finance, Science or Engineering

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of operations or Finance experience

  • Must have the desire to continuously learn and continue professional development

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Proactive approach to problem solving

  • Results and process-driven orientation

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a challenging and complex environment

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build and maintain diverse client and peer relationships

  • Sound and balanced judgment, with the ability to assess and handle risk

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Strong computer skills especially working with SAP, BPC, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Power BI

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Expected salary range:

$101,100.00 - $159,100.00
