- Under the direction of the Utility Operations Coach, provide maintenance supporting the vaccine manufacturing process. The HVAC/R Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining HVAC equipment located throughout the site. The technician must have experience and knowledge working with boiler operation, compressed air, industrial chillers, refrigeration and water systems, steam generation, human interface systems (HMI) and Building Automation Systems (BAS). The technician will operate all Plant Engineering utility generating equipment located throughout the entire site and take appropriate action to correct Plant Engineering maintenance problems. The technician will perform the job duties per Standard Operating Procedures and cGMPs. The technician will also be responsible for supporting departmental vision that provides for continuous improvement in all aspects of the operation. The Mechanic identifies and demonstrates a working knowledge of customer expectations and their requirements.

Works as a liaison between Plant Engineering and other Site Bus

Extensive industrial experience involving utility systems and monitoring is needed
Operate all Plant Engineering equipment which includes but not limited to air handling units, chillers, air compressors, boilers, clean steam and WFI water systems.
Sets up, adjusts, repairs, and maintains all vaccine process utility equipment
Performs calibrations and maintains industrial instrumentation standards
Prepares technical documentation (PMs, CIs, & validation procedures) on as needed basis
Participates in the establishment and improvement of new and existing process equipment.
Provides technical specifications and information to Quality, Manufacturing, Process-Project Engineers, and other MMD requestors
Maintain Utility equipment by developing/performing PMs, installing new equipment, completing validation protocols, documenting work using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS - SAP) and other duties as requested by the Utility Maintenance Coach.
Performs preventative maintenance inspections and prepares inspection reports concerning operation of equipment and mechanical condition of equipment.
Participates in new equipment installations interfacing with equipment vendors, recommending spare parts, selecting lubrication, assisting process-project engineers, effecting validation and qualification testing, performing initial de-bug and redesign operations to make equipment operable.
Responsible for performing assignments in conformance with appropriate Regulatory (GMPs) and department standard operating procedures which assure the quality of our products.
Must be CFC certified
Must be proficient working with refrigeration systems including cascade.
Must be proficient working will air balance
Identifies and resolves technical and operational problems; collaborates with peers to resolve problems that cross into inter-related units
The successful candidate must have strong problem solving skills and a hands-on approach to problem solving. The successful candidate should be able to examine an issue from diverse perspectives (safety, compliance, automation, equipment, process, and people) in order to best understand and resolve it at root cause.
Assist with trouble shooting Plant Engineering equipment on an as needed basis which includes, but not limited to, chillers, boiler, AHUs, PLCs, humidifiers/dehumidifies, water systems, Square D controllers/monitors, clean steam generators.
Perform corrective, preventive and proactive maintenance tasks as needed to maintain plant utilities equipment.
Communicates information, asks questions and checks for understanding
Accountable for the performance of plant engineering energy center systems
Makes decisions – guided by policies, guidelines, and procedures – that impact the department’s ability to meet performance objectives
Consults on an as-needed basis with next-level manager on more complex decisions and/or issues that impact other units with inter-related processes
Adapts and implements departmental plans and priorities based on division scorecard to address local business, service and operational challenges
Consults on an as-needed basis with next-level manager for newly identified priorities

Education Minimum Requirement:
- High School Diploma and 10 years utility operation or utility maintenance or 2 year technical degree and 7 years maintenance experience
Required Experience and Skills:
Experience with Utility System Generation, Industrial Chillers, Distribution Systems, Control Systems
Knowledge of Steam, Compressed Air, Water and Electrical Systems
Use of Human Interface Systems and Building Automation Systems
Experience navigating between multiple PC screens to monitor Building Alarms
Experience with Industrial Refrigeration Systems that include Centrifugal Chillers and Cascade Refrigeration systems
Ability to troubleshoot refrigeration and instrumentation systems
Ability to read electrical prints, P&IDs and understand P&ID control loops
Must be CFC certified
Must be proficient working with air balance systems
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Experience working in a facility that is regulated
